Infosys is planning a major workforce transformation as artificial intelligence reshapes the IT services industry. According to people familiar with the company’s plans, Infosys could move between 25% and 33% of its workforce into specialist roles. The company also plans to build a team of around 6,000 frontier engineers focused on advanced technologies.
The plans were discussed at a recent company event in Washington, where Infosys briefed partners, advisers and analysts on its evolving talent strategy. The company is also hiring from leading Indian institutes and US campuses as demand for specialised AI skills grows.
Infosys had 3,28,594 employees globally as of March 31, 2026. Its annual report says the changing nature of work is driving a shift towards AI-focused roles involving orchestration, system supervision, domain expertise and outcome validation.
