The Adani Group has announced plans to invest more than ₹1 lakh crore in West Bengal by 2035, expanding its presence across ports, logistics, energy, roads, green cement and hyperscale data centres. Chairman Gautam Adani made the announcement on Thursday while speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the group’s 2,000-bed Adani Arogya Mandir in New Town, Kolkata.

The proposed investment will cover ports, logistics, power generation, transmission and distribution, roads, bridges and ropeways, green cement and digital infrastructure. Adani described West Bengal as the group’s potential eastern base, highlighting the state’s geographical position and its links to India’s industrial regions, the Northeast and maritime trade routes in Southeast Asia.
The investment plan comes alongside a major healthcare project. The Adani Arogya Mandir, being developed by the Adani Foundation at the Bengal Silicon Valley Tech Hub, will involve an investment of more than ₹4,000 crore. Spread across 51.75 acres, the project will include a 2,000-bed multispeciality hospital, medical education and research facilities, along with step-down and transitional care services.
The healthcare project is expected to handle more than 2 lakh inpatients and over 20 lakh outpatients annually and generate around 10,000 jobs across the healthcare ecosystem. Half of the 2,000 beds will be reserved for economically weaker sections eligible under state and central health insurance schemes.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari laid the foundation stone for the project. The initiative is also expected to support medical tourism and expand access to specialised healthcare in the region.
Alongside its industrial and healthcare plans, the Adani Group announced support for the restoration of the historic Writers’ Building and the revitalisation of Kumartuli Ghat. The group also signed agreements related to promoting Kolkata’s Durga Puja on the global stage.
Speaking at the Indian Chamber of Commerce annual session later in the day, Adani said greater economic growth would require stronger development in eastern India, with West Bengal playing a significant role in that expansion.
The latest announcement marks a broad expansion of the Adani Group’s proposed activities in West Bengal, combining large-scale infrastructure and energy investments with healthcare, logistics and digital infrastructure projects.
