Adidas has reportedly started large-scale job cuts at its India Technology Hub in Gurgaon, with more than 350 employees said to be affected.

The reported layoffs could impact around 45% to 50% of the hub’s workforce, which has about 700 employees. Software engineers, data scientists and data engineers are among those reportedly affected.
Employees were informed about the job cuts during a town hall meeting on September 15, according to people familiar with the matter.
Adidas confirms technology job cuts
Adidas has confirmed that it is reducing some positions within its Technology organisation in India. However, the company has not disclosed the exact number of employees affected.
The company said the decision was taken to align its operating model with changing business requirements. Adidas said the restructuring would simplify parts of the organisation, strengthen key capabilities and support its long-term growth.
The company also said it appreciates the contributions of its employees and would provide affected workers with appropriate transition support.
Employees placed in two groups
According to people familiar with the situation, employees affected by the restructuring have been divided into two groups.
One group reportedly received exit letters on September 15. The second group has been asked to continue working until December 15 to complete the handover of their responsibilities to teams at other technology hubs.
Employees in the second group have also reportedly been given an opportunity to apply for other positions within Adidas. Those who do not find another internal role by December 15 are expected to leave the company.
Severance details not disclosed
Adidas has not publicly shared details about severance packages, notice pay or redeployment assistance for the affected employees.
The company was also asked about the number of employees involved, the roles affected and the support being provided as part of the restructuring. However, it did not disclose specific details.
India remains important for Adidas
Despite the job cuts, Adidas said India continues to be a strategically important market for the company.
The company said its India Technology Hub remains an important part of its global operations, supporting its growth, innovation and digital transformation plans.
Gurgaon hub supports global operations
Adidas’ Gurgaon facility houses its India marketing operations as well as one of its Global Engineering Tech Hubs.
The company has continued to expand its presence in India in recent years. In 2024, Adidas opened a Global Business Services centre in Chennai as part of its wider India operations.
