An Indian auto-rickshaw has caught attention on the streets of London after Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra shared a video of the three-wheeler navigating the British capital.
The nearly 24-second clip shows a black Mahindra auto-rickshaw moving through central London traffic, surrounded by pedestrians and the city’s familiar black cabs. The unusual sight prompted reactions from social media users, many of whom celebrated the presence of an Indian-made vehicle on British roads.

Mahindra shared the video on October 5 with a Gujarati caption that translates to, “A rickshaw has arrived in the UK. It’s a Mahindra one, it’s ours.” He also noted that the vehicle had been imported by a hobbyist.
The video quickly attracted attention, with users responding through jokes, nostalgic references to Indian auto-rickshaw culture and expressions of pride in Indian brands. Some described the sight humorously as “reverse colonisation,” while others imagined what a typical Indian auto ride, complete with fare negotiations, would look like in London.
The moment highlights how a familiar mode of transport in India can become an unusual sight abroad. It also reflects the growing international visibility of Indian automotive products and brands.
While auto-rickshaws are a common feature of Indian streets, their appearance in a city such as London offers a striking cultural contrast that has captured social media’s imagination.
