Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan hosted 35 vloggers and social media influencers from 19 BRICS member and partner nations at Cliff House in Thiruvananthapuram, inviting them to showcase the state’s development story to a global audience.

The meeting was organised as part of the Ministry of External Affairs’ BRICS-related outreach. Satheesan highlighted Kerala’s 600-km coastline, Western Ghats, tourism potential and growing investment opportunities.
He said the government is working to position Kerala as a major investment destination by developing sectors including ports, tourism, healthcare and IT. The state plans to integrate its two international ports, container terminal and 18 smaller ports as part of a wider port-city development strategy.
The government also aims to develop Kerala as an aviation hub by connecting its four international airports and expand the IT sector beyond Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi into northern Kerala.
Satheesan also highlighted Kerala’s pool of doctors, engineers and IT professionals working across the world as one of the state’s key strengths.
Healthcare and wellness are another focus area, with plans to strengthen government hospitals, develop advanced rehabilitation centres and promote Kerala as a global destination for Ayurveda and holistic wellness.
The Chief Minister also highlighted Kerala’s progress in literacy and its ambition to achieve complete digital literacy. The state is also looking to attract leading global universities and expand opportunities in higher education.
Satheesan urged the global Malayali diaspora to invest more in Kerala, saying new opportunities are emerging for expatriates across the Gulf and other parts of the world to participate in the state’s growth.
The visiting creators, who together have millions of followers, could help take Kerala’s tourism, healthcare, investment and development story to audiences worldwide. After spending nearly an hour with the Chief Minister, the group also interacted with him for photographs and social media content before leaving Cliff House.
