Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on BRICS countries to stand on the “right side of history” and push for an end to the war in the Middle East.
Speaking at the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, Xi highlighted the need for dialogue and diplomacy as conflicts in West Asia continue to threaten regional stability, trade and global security. China has repeatedly called for political solutions to regional conflicts and opposed external interference.
Xi’s remarks come as the expanded BRICS grouping faces growing pressure to respond to major geopolitical conflicts, including the war involving Iran. The presence of Iran alongside countries such as India, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the UAE makes consensus on the conflict particularly significant.
The Chinese President’s comments also come amid wider concerns over disrupted supply chains, maritime security and global trade. BRICS finance chiefs have separately backed stronger cross-border payment cooperation and local-currency settlements amid rising geopolitical and trade risks.
The remarks underline China’s push for a greater BRICS role in addressing global conflicts and shaping a more multipolar international order.
