Michelin has launched the Made-in-India Primacy 5, marking the company’s first locally manufactured passenger vehicle tyre in the country. Designed for sedans, SUVs and electric vehicles, the premium tyre is available in sizes ranging from 16 to 22 inches, with prices starting at ₹10,000.

The Primacy 5 has been engineered specifically for Indian driving conditions and offers improved wet and dry braking, longer tread life, enhanced ride comfort and better energy efficiency compared with its predecessor. Michelin says the tyre also helps extend the driving range of electric vehicles by reducing rolling resistance.
The launch marks a major milestone in Michelin India’s localisation strategy, with production taking place at its Chennai facility. The company plans to expand its portfolio of locally manufactured premium tyres as it strengthens its presence in India’s fast-growing passenger vehicle market.
