India is confident of achieving its ambitious target of ₹50,000 crore in defence exports by 2030, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh has said.
India’s defence exports reached ₹38,424 crore in FY26, bringing the country closer to its target. The exporter base has also expanded significantly, with nearly 145 Indian companies now exporting different types of defence equipment.
The growth reflects India’s push towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing and its emergence as a global supplier of military equipment and technologies. The government is also strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities and encouraging greater participation from private companies and startups.
With defence production and exports continuing to grow, India aims to further expand its global footprint and become a major defence exporter by the end of the decade.
