India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has introduced ‘IndiGo Lite’, a new entry-level fare designed for passengers travelling with only cabin baggage. The fare offers a lower base price by excluding complimentary checked baggage and other optional services. Bookings begin from July 1, with travel starting July 15.

Under the Lite fare, passengers receive an auto-assigned seat and can carry one cabin bag of up to 7 kg. Services such as checked baggage, preferred seat selection, meals and priority boarding can be purchased separately, allowing travellers to customise their journey.
The fare is available exclusively through IndiGo’s website, mobile app and contact centre for non-stop domestic and international flights. The airline says the move is aimed at customers who travel light and prefer to pay only for the services they use.
The launch follows a broader trend in the aviation industry towards unbundled pricing, giving passengers more flexibility while helping airlines cater to different travel preferences and budgets.
