India and Saudi Arabia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in water resource management, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties. The agreement was signed between India’s Ministry of Jal Shakti and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture.

The MoU covers key areas including groundwater management, water conservation, desalination, wastewater treatment, sustainable water use and integrated water resource management. It aims to promote efficient and sustainable solutions to growing water challenges.
The partnership will facilitate the exchange of technology, research, innovation, technical expertise and best practices. It also includes training programmes, institutional collaboration and capacity-building initiatives to improve water governance in both countries.
Officials said the agreement reflects the shared commitment of India and Saudi Arabia to sustainable development and resource conservation while expanding cooperation in critical infrastructure and environmental management.
