Tatanagar is set to become a major railway maintenance centre with the development of a dedicated Vande Bharat maintenance hub worth ₹384 crore.

The facility will support the upkeep, servicing and inspection of Vande Bharat trains, helping improve operational efficiency and reduce maintenance turnaround times.
The project is part of Indian Railways’ broader strategy to build specialized infrastructure for its expanding fleet of semi-high-speed trains across the country.
Once operational, the hub will provide advanced maintenance capabilities, modern diagnostic systems and technical support for Vande Bharat services operating in eastern India.
The investment is also expected to generate employment opportunities and strengthen Tatanagar’s position as an important railway and industrial centre.
As the Vande Bharat network continues to expand, dedicated maintenance facilities such as the one planned at Tatanagar will play a crucial role in ensuring reliability, safety and operational excellence across the railway system.
