Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is visiting the United Kingdom from June 25 to 27 as India and the UK prepare for the rollout of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the Double Contribution Convention (DCC), both scheduled to come into force on July 15.

During the visit, Goyal is expected to hold high-level discussions with UK Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle and engage with investors, business leaders and industry groups. The focus will be on ensuring smooth implementation of the trade agreement and expanding bilateral economic cooperation.
Key discussions will cover tariff reductions, regulatory coordination, customs procedures, market access, investment opportunities and mechanisms to facilitate the mobility of professionals between the two countries. The DCC is also expected to address concerns related to dual social security contributions for eligible temporary workers.
The India-UK CETA, concluded after multiple rounds of negotiations, covers trade in goods and services, digital trade, financial services, telecommunications, intellectual property, sustainability and support for small businesses. The agreement is expected to strengthen bilateral trade and create new opportunities for businesses on both sides.
The visit underscores India’s growing confidence in global trade negotiations and reflects the country’s broader strategy of deepening economic partnerships, strengthening supply-chain integration and positioning itself as a trusted global business destination.
