Adobe has appointed Indian-origin executive Anil Chakravarthy as its next president and chief executive officer, marking a major leadership transition at the software company. Chakravarthy will take over on December 1, 2026, and join Adobe’s board of directors.
Shantanu Narayen, who has served as Adobe’s CEO for more than 18 years, will transition to the role of executive chair. He will work closely with Chakravarthy during the leadership transition and continue supporting Adobe’s transformation.
Chakravarthy currently serves as president of Adobe’s Customer Experience Orchestration business and worldwide field operations. He joined Adobe in 2020 after spending four years as CEO of enterprise cloud data management company Informatica. Before that, he held leadership positions at Symantec and McKinsey.
The leadership change comes at a crucial time for Adobe as artificial intelligence reshapes the software industry and intensifies competition from AI-powered platforms. Chakravarthy has said he is focused on driving Adobe’s growth and strengthening its leadership in the next era of agentic software across creativity, productivity and customer experience.
Narayen’s move to executive chair is expected to provide continuity as Chakravarthy takes charge and Adobe navigates its next phase of AI-driven growth.
