Global building materials company Saint-Gobain has said that India is becoming an increasingly important manufacturing and export base for its global operations. The company sees strong potential in India’s production ecosystem to serve both domestic and international markets.

Chennai Facility to Serve Multiple Regions
Saint-Gobain Chairman and CEO Benoît Bazin said the company’s large manufacturing facility near Chennai will cater to India’s domestic demand while also exporting products to regions including the Gulf, Southeast Asia, and Australia.
Focus on Low-Carbon Innovation
Bazin highlighted that Saint-Gobain is introducing several low-carbon technologies in India. The company was the first in Asia to launch low-carbon glass production from its Chennai plant and has also adopted biomass-based energy solutions at its facility in Andhra Pradesh.
He added that energy-efficient building materials and technologies can significantly cut both electricity use and carbon emissions in the construction sector.
Sustainability and Emissions Reduction Goals
The company reported a 35 percent reduction in carbon emissions over the past six years. Saint-Gobain has reiterated its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 as part of its long-term sustainability roadmap.
