Ankur Warikoo has emerged as one of India’s most recognizable entrepreneur-creators, building a powerful personal brand through startups, content creation, books, online education, and investing. His journey is widely seen as an example of reinvention, risk-taking, and adapting to changing industries.
Born in Srinagar and raised in Delhi, Warikoo studied Physics at Hindu College, Delhi University, before moving to the United States for higher studies in astrophysics at Michigan State University. However, he later dropped out of the PhD path and returned to India, eventually completing his MBA at the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad.

His professional journey began in consulting firm A.T. Kearney before he entered the startup ecosystem. Warikoo co-founded Accentium Web, which operated digital platforms such as Gaadi.com, SecondShaadi.com, and StudyNation.com. He later led Groupon India and eventually became the founding CEO of Nearbuy, one of India’s early hyperlocal commerce startups.
In recent years, Warikoo transformed himself into a full-time creator, educator, and author. Through YouTube videos, podcasts, books, courses, and public speaking, he built a massive online audience focused on entrepreneurship, productivity, career growth, and personal finance. His books including Do Epic Shit, Get Epic Shit Done, and Make Epic Money became popular among young professionals and startup aspirants.
In 2026, Warikoo made headlines after announcing the shutdown of his profitable online courses business, which reportedly generated more than ₹100 crore in revenue and served over five lakh students. The move triggered major discussions around the future of creator-led education and the impact of AI on online learning businesses.
