Bharat Forge is set to establish India’s first private-sector marine gas turbine manufacturing hub in Visakhapatnam, boosting the country’s defence and advanced engineering capabilities.

According to reports, the upcoming facility will focus on marine gas turbine systems used in naval and maritime applications, supporting India’s push for indigenous defence manufacturing and reduced dependence on imports.
Industry experts say the project marks a significant milestone for India’s private defence manufacturing ecosystem, especially in high-end propulsion and marine engineering technologies. The hub is expected to support future naval platforms, shipbuilding projects, and strategic maritime infrastructure initiatives.
The development aligns with India’s broader “Make in India” and defence self-reliance goals, where both public and private sector companies are increasingly participating in advanced aerospace, naval, and military manufacturing programmes.
Analysts believe the new facility could strengthen India’s long-term ambitions in defence exports, indigenous military technology development, and advanced heavy engineering while also creating highly skilled employment opportunities in the region.
