Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has said that India is already the company’s third largest market in terms of trips and is on track to become its biggest global market within the next decade. Speaking about Uber’s long term strategy, he noted that India continues to move up the company’s internal rankings and remains central to its global growth plans.

He added that the scale and pace of India’s mobility and logistics ecosystem offer strong long term potential, making it one of Uber’s most important markets worldwide.
No Immediate Plans to Re enter Food Delivery
Khosrowshahi clarified that Uber is not planning a near term return to India’s food delivery segment. While the company continues to monitor the fast growing quick commerce and delivery space, he said the current focus remains on mobility and logistics.
He also left open the possibility of future partnerships in the sector under an “everything app” approach, but ruled out direct ownership or a full-scale comeback for now.
Focus on Mobility and Long Term Competition
Addressing competition in India, including rising players in the ride hailing space, Khosrowshahi said competition is a constant in such a large and fast growing market. He emphasized that Uber remains focused on long term growth rather than short term market shifts.
He noted that Uber continues to lead in India’s mobility space by gross bookings and sees competition as a factor that drives innovation and improvement.
India at the Center of Uber’s Global Strategy
Khosrowshahi highlighted Uber’s expanding investments in India, including partnerships in digital infrastructure such as its collaboration with the Adani Group. He described India as a critical part of Uber’s global operations and said the company sees strong potential in continued infrastructure development in the country.
He also pointed out that despite global fuel price pressures, demand for transportation services has remained strong and resilient.
India Poised to Become Uber’s Largest Market
Looking ahead, the Uber CEO said India’s growth trajectory in mobility is likely to continue accelerating. He predicted that within the next ten years, India could become Uber’s largest market globally, driven by rising demand, urban expansion, and increasing digital adoption.
