The Adani Foundation has established a garment skills and production centre in Badarwas block of Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, as part of its CSR initiative aimed at empowering rural women through employment and skill development.

The centre is designed to train women in apparel manufacturing while also creating a structured production facility to help improve their income levels.
Focus on Skills and Income Growth
According to Adani Foundation CEO Abhishek Lakhtakia, the initiative will connect around 1,500 women with the Adani Vikas Kendra. Women will be trained to operate modern sewing machines and produce garments at scale.
He said the foundation will also help connect their products to broader markets, ensuring better pricing, improved design quality, and sustained income growth for women and their families.
Large Scale Employment Opportunity
Project Manager Arvind Bhargava noted that more than 3,500 women in the region are already engaged in tailoring-related work. The new centre will significantly expand opportunities, with 600 machines expected to support jobs for around 1,200 to 1,400 women.
He added that monthly incomes are expected to rise, aligning with the government’s “Lakhpati Didi” vision of improving rural women’s financial independence. The project was completed quickly after its foundation ceremony on January 9, 2025, and is now operational.
Training and Rural Impact
Trainer Anisha Dixit highlighted that the centre is not only providing employment but also structured skill development. Around 113 women have already been trained, with plans to train over 1,300 more in the coming year.
She noted that most participants come from nearby rural areas where tailoring was previously limited to household use without formal training or market access.
Wider Social Impact
The Adani Foundation currently operates in 7,071 villages across 22 states, impacting approximately 9.6 million people through various development programs.
The garment centre adds to its broader focus on livelihood creation, women empowerment, and rural economic development through skill-based initiatives.
