Indian Railways has approved the introduction of an overnight Vande Bharat sleeper train connecting Mumbai and Bengaluru through the KSR Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (T) stations, marking a major upgrade in long-distance rail travel.

The new service is expected to significantly reduce travel time while offering enhanced comfort compared to traditional sleeper trains.
Unlike existing Vande Bharat trains, which operate as chair car services, this version will feature sleeper coaches, making it suitable for overnight journeys.
The train is part of Indian Railways’ broader plan to expand the Vande Bharat network and modernize intercity travel across the country.
At present, there is only one dedicated daily train, UdyanExpress between Bengaluru and Mumbai. It runs via Guntakal and Kalaburagi, covering 1,136 km and serving mainly Andhra Pradesh.
Designed with improved amenities, better safety features, and a more premium travel experience, the sleeper variant aims to attract both business and leisure travellers.Once operational, the Mumbai–Bengaluru route is expected to benefit thousands of passengers by providing a faster, more efficient, and comfortable alternative to current rail options.
