Larsen & Toubro has landed an “ultra-mega” order from Adani Power to set up eight thermal power units, each with a capacity of 800 MW, adding up to 6,400 MW of new generation capacity. The company confirmed the order on Monday, categorizing it as ultra-mega — meaning it’s valued at more than ₹15,000 crore.
Handled by L&T’s CarbonLite Solutions Arm
The contract will be executed by L&T Energy – CarbonLite Solutions, the company’s specialized vertical for large-scale power projects. The scope covers complete design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, and commissioning of Boiler-Turbine-Generator packages, along with auxiliaries and all related mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

Meeting India’s Growing Energy Needs
“This order from the Adani Group reinforces our role as a leading partner in building the country’s critical energy infrastructure,” said Subramanian Sarma, Deputy MD & President of L&T. He noted the project comes at a time when India’s demand for reliable and affordable power is rising sharply.
Part of a String of Big Wins
This deal follows another ultra-mega order L&T secured on July 29 from a Middle East client for offshore engineering and construction works. The company has also recently bagged major contracts in Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai, and Muscat for infrastructure and residential projects.Linked to Adani’s Bihar Project
The announcement comes shortly after Adani Power received a Letter of Intent from Bihar State Power Generation Company to develop and supply 2,274 MW of electricity to the state from a planned 2,400 MW thermal project in Bhagalpur district.
