Tesla Launches Online Orders for Indian Market
Tesla has officially opened its online booking platform to customers across India. In a recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Tesla India stated:”Now everyone in India can order directly on our website.”
The announcement was later reshared by CEO Elon Musk, reinforcing the company’s commitment to expanding its footprint in India.
This update follows the launch of Tesla’s first Indian showroom, located at Maker Maxity Mall in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). With online orders now open, Tesla aims to serve customers across various cities—prioritising deliveries in key metros while gradually scaling access nationwide.

Priority Cities for Delivery
While customers across most Indian states and union territories can now place orders, priority delivery will be extended to select cities. These include:
- Mumbai
- Pune
- Delhi
- Gurugram
These cities are expected to receive the earliest deliveries as part of Tesla’s phased rollout strategy.
States and UTs Eligible for Tesla Orders
Tesla confirmed that residents in nearly all states and union territories can place orders through the official Tesla website. The list includes:
Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.
Tesla Model Y Launched in India
As part of its India entry, Tesla has launched the Model Y SUV. The electric vehicle (EV) is priced starting at ₹61 lakh (on-road). Key pricing details include:
- Rear-Wheel Drive variant – ₹59.89 lakh
- Long-Range Rear-Wheel Drive – ₹67.89 lakh
This marks the first official offering from Tesla in the Indian market, positioning itself in the premium EV space.
First Showroom Opens in Mumbai
Tesla has also unveiled its first showroom called the Tesla Experience Centre, located at Maker Maxity Mall in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai.
The space reflects Tesla’s signature global aesthetic with a minimalist white theme, sleek displays, and lightboxes showcasing the brand’s innovations. In a unique twist, the visuals incorporate Indian cultural elements, blending global tech with local context.
The Experience Centre was designed by Neeta Sharada, Tesla’s Chief Architect for India, and will serve as a hub for customers to explore Tesla’s vehicles and technology up close.
