Parvathy Gopakumar, a law graduate from the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, has overcome immense challenges to achieve remarkable success. Losing her right hand in a road accident at age 12, she relearned to write with her left hand, starting from basics with slates and cursive writing books. Despite this setback, she excelled academically, scoring top marks in Class 10 and higher secondary education.

Driven by a strong desire to serve her country, Parvathy cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination on her second attempt (2023–24), earning an impressive All India Rank of 282. She was allotted the Kerala cadre and appointed as Assistant Collector in Kochi, marking a significant milestone in her career.
Her family, including her father K.S. Gopakumar, a deputy tahsildar, and her mother Sreekala S. Nair, a school teacher, stood proudly as she took up her new role. Although official rules prevent her from being posted in her hometown of Alappuzha, where her father works, she is proud to serve in the neighbouring district of Ernakulam.
Parvathy’s journey exemplifies resilience and determination, turning adversity into achievement and proving that setbacks do not define one’s destiny.
