A new class of ultra-rich individuals has emerged—the super billionaires. These are people with a net worth of $50 billion or more, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). Out of the 24 super billionaires identified by global wealth intelligence firm Altrata, 16 are centi-billionaires, meaning they have at least $100 billion in wealth.

Elon Musk Tops the List

Tech mogul Elon Musk is currently the richest person in the world, with a net worth of $419.4 billion. Musk, who leads Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, and X (formerly Twitter), has wealth that is more than two million times the median net worth of an American household.

Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani in the Elite Club

Indian business leaders Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani have also made it to the list of super billionaires. Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, has a net worth of $90.6 billion.

Adani, who heads the Adani Group, has a net worth of $60.6 billion.

Top Super Billionaires in 2024

  • Elon Musk – $419.4 billion (Tesla, SpaceX, X)
  • Jeff Bezos – $263.8 billion (Amazon)
  • Bernard Arnault – $238.9 billion (LVMH)
  • Lawrence Ellison – $237 billion (Oracle)
  • Mark Zuckerberg – $220.8 billion (Meta)
  • Sergey Brin – $160.5 billion (Alphabet)
  • Warren Buffett – $154.2 billion (Berkshire Hathaway)
  • Mukesh Ambani – $90.6 billion (Reliance Industries)
  • Gautam Adani – $60.6 billion (Adani Group)

Tech Giants Dominate the List

Most of the top super billionaires are technology entrepreneurs. The top 10 names are primarily linked to major tech firms like Amazon, Meta, Alphabet, and Microsoft.

Few Women in the Super Billionaire Club

The list has a significant gender gap, with only three women among the top 24: Alice Walton, Julia Koch, and Francoise Bettencourt Meyers.

As wealth continues to accumulate among a select few, the super billionaire category reflects the increasing concentration of global financial power.
