In a conversation between K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), MLA and former Minister for IT & Industries of Telangana, and Nisha Krishnan, Founder of Channeliam.com, KTR discussed the significant role of startups in shaping the future economy. He emphasized that startups are poised to become tomorrow’s Fortune 100 and 500 companies, as well as major job creators for the country. According to KTR, while the government can’t single-handedly ensure the success of startups, it must act as an enabler by fostering a conducive environment. He highlighted that disruption is inevitable and will impact every sector, so it’s essential for policymakers to support innovative businesses.
Reflecting on Telangana’s achievements under his leadership, KTR pointed out the state’s remarkable growth in IT exports. In 2014, Telangana’s IT exports were valued at ₹57,000 crore, which skyrocketed to ₹2.41 lakh crore by 2023, showcasing a massive leap. This, he said, is a prime example of what can be achieved with the right support and vision. He also mentioned that the state has been working to create opportunities for its youth, providing a solid foundation for their success in the future.
