Narendra Modi and Giorgia Meloni have unveiled a new Indo-Mediterranean strategic vision aimed at significantly deepening ties between India and Italy across key sectors including trade, defence, technology, energy, and connectivity.

According to reports, the discussions focused on expanding cooperation in advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, clean energy, maritime security, critical minerals, and resilient supply chains. Both countries also expressed interest in boosting industrial partnerships and investment flows.
The leaders highlighted the growing strategic importance of the Indo-Mediterranean region amid changing geopolitical dynamics and increasing focus on secure trade routes, energy security, and economic resilience. Analysts say the partnership could help strengthen India’s engagement with Southern Europe and the broader Mediterranean region.
India and Italy are also expected to deepen collaboration in defence manufacturing, green hydrogen, innovation, space, and startup ecosystems while encouraging stronger business-to-business engagement.
The meeting took place during PM Modi’s multi-nation diplomatic visit to Europe, where India has been actively strengthening partnerships focused on technology, infrastructure, energy transition, and strategic cooperation with major European economies.
