The Karnataka Cabinet has approved the construction of the Bengaluru Skydeck, which is set to become South Asia’s tallest structure with a towering height of approximately 250 metres. This ambitious project, estimated to cost Rs 500 crore, promises to significantly enhance the city’s infrastructure and offer a panoramic 360-degree view of Bengaluru, India’s tech hub.
Height and Comparison
To put its height into perspective, the Skydeck will surpass the Qutub Minar in Delhi, which stands at 73 metres, by over three times. Bengaluru’s current tallest building, the CNTC Presidential Tower, measures about 160 metres.
Project Details
The Skydeck will be situated on NICE Road in outer Bengaluru, chosen for its feasibility over a central location due to land availability and objections from the Defense Ministry regarding air traffic safety. The project will include a lavish shopping complex and state-of-the-art facilities for tourists, all connected to the metro rail system to ensure easy access.
Additional Infrastructure
In addition to the Skydeck, the Karnataka Cabinet has also approved a major infrastructure project: a two-way tunnel from Hebbal to Silkboard Junction, costing approximately Rs 12,690 crore.
