Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has called for an urgent meeting of senior police officers following a blast incident that occurred at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru on Friday, March 1st. The cafe, a popular haunt often frequented by celebrities, was rocked by the explosion which left at least 10 people injured.
According to PTI reports citing official sources, CCTV cameras installed at Rameshwaram Cafe and neighboring areas have captured images of the suspect’s movements. Authorities express confidence in the leads obtained from these images, indicating progress towards apprehending the culprit.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who visited the blast site, revealed that investigations are being conducted from all angles. He disclosed that a youth had placed a small bag at the cafe which exploded approximately an hour later, causing the low-intensity blast. Shivakumar assured citizens that 7-8 teams have been formed to thoroughly probe the incident.
In response to the incident, the Bengaluru Hotels Association is working on a comprehensive plan to bolster security measures across public establishments. President of Bruhath Bangalore Hotels Association, PC Rao, stated that discussions are ongoing with police officials and other stakeholders in the hospitality industry to devise an effective security strategy. However, implementation of these measures awaits the formal investigative report from the police department regarding the blast.
In the wake of the explosion, Delhi Police has heightened vigilance in crowded areas, particularly in markets across Delhi. District police chiefs have been instructed to increase surveillance, with market associations urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to local authorities.
Expressing concern over the incident, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar called upon Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to ensure a thorough investigation, cautioning against dismissing the blast as a mere cylinder explosion. Chandrasekhar emphasized the importance of maintaining safety in Bengaluru, a vital hub for the country’s digital economy strategy.
As investigations continue and security measures are reinforced, the incident at Rameshwaram Cafe serves as a stark reminder of the imperative to prioritize public safety and vigilance in the face of emerging security threats.
