OnePlus Offers Full Refund for Customers

OnePlus has announced a full refund for buyers of the OnePlus 12R, who were misled by false advertising claiming it had fast UFS 4.0 storage, when it actually uses the older UFS 3.1 type. The refund offer is applicable to purchasers of the 256GB variant of the phone until March 16, 2024, as stated by OnePlus president and COO Kinder Liu in a forum post.

Liu expressed gratitude for the patience of customers and assured them that the customer service teams are fully briefed on the situation and are assisting concerned individuals. He had previously apologized for the miscommunication, acknowledging it as an error on the company’s part.

The controversy arose when reviewers and early buyers discovered that benchmark apps like AnTuTu were reporting slower speeds than expected for the 16GB/256GB OnePlus 12R model, which was advertised with UFS 4.0 storage. OnePlus acknowledged the mistake and issued apologies after social media backlash.

Liu attempted to address concerns by stating that OnePlus had tested all promised performance gains with UFS 3.1 storage, ensuring a smooth user experience. However, he acknowledged the allure of faster storage for buyers considering the price difference between different variants of the phone.

OnePlus aims to restore customer trust by offering refunds to those who wish to return their units, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining a positive relationship with their community.
