The 42nd edition of GITEX 2022, which starts tomorrow, Monday, at the Dubai World Trade Center, has been announced by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and it will feature a wide range of smart projects, applications, and stations.
RTA will showcase a number of smart initiatives, including the digital twin-powered smart Dubai Metro station, smart solutions for transferring vehicle ownership, a new generation of taxis, RTA smart apps, and the self-driving Cruise car for the first time at the event.
At the GITEX show, RTA will debut its all-electric, self-driving Cruise car, which is based on the Chevrolet Bolt chassis. The commercial fleet of self-driving vehicles operated by Cruise currently includes this autonomous vehicle in San Francisco. Cruise became the first firm to operate a commercial self-driving ride hail service in a significant American metropolis when it made its self-driving ride hail service available to the general public in February 2022. Cruise announced plans to extend this service to Austin in September.
RTA, GM, and Cruise hope that autonomous vehicles will help create a future where everyone travels in safety and with greater accessibility. These initiatives will also help General Motors achieve its goal of zero congestion, zero emissions, and zero crashes.
