Google’s India plans
Google had announced $10 billion for Google for India Digitisation Fund last year. It has already invested $4.5 billion for a 7.73% stake in the Reliance Jio Platforms. The firm had recently invested up to $1 billion in Bharti Airtel.
“It is a reflection of our confidence in the future of India, its digital economy,” Pichai said. He said his company is thinking deeper about emerging markets like India. Pichai feels that India lines up with Google’s mission of building a more equitable Internet for everyone. YouTube continues to drive significant engagement for the firm globally including in India, he said
