42 firms were selected under the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for white goods.

“Some are Bluestar, Daikin, Havells, Orient Electric,” Dept for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade said.

52 companies had filed applications with committed investment of Rs 5,858 crore.

After evaluation, 42 applicants with committed investment of Rs 4,614 crore were selected.

PLI scheme had received the Union Cabinet approval in April. 

The scheme will be implemented over a seven-year period, starting FY22. 

Flexibility to choose the gestation period for applicants is either up to Mar 2022 or up to March 2023.

26 selected applicants are for Air Conditioner manufacturing.

This has committed investments of Rs 3,898 crore.

And, 16 are for LED Lights manufacturing with committed investments of Rs 716 crore.
