Mahindra and Mahindra will launch five electric vehicles by 2027 on its new platform Inglo. The company expects as much as 30% of its sales to come from EVs by 2027. The five e-SUVs will be under the two EV brands Iconic brand XUV with the Twin Peak logo and the all-new electric-only brand called BE. Over seven per cent of India’s population owns digital currency, according to the U.N. Ukraine topped the list with 12.7 per cent, followed by Russia (11.9 per cent). UNCTAD highlighted that the use of cryptocurrencies globally has increased exponentially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cryptocurrencies might potentially inadvertently replace national currencies, the report continued. The UN asked the relevant authorities to provide thorough financial regulation of cryptocurrencies. By regulating crypto exchanges, digital wallets, and decentralized finance as well as prohibiting authorized financial institutions from owning cryptocurrencies.

Indians no longer will be able to use VLC Media Player. India has blocked VLC Media Player’s website and download link. Reports say that it has been blocked for about two months Chinese hacking group Cicada has been using it for cyber attacks. Cicada was using it for deploying a malicious malware loader. Security experts say that it is part of a long-running cyber attack campaign. India has so far blocked hundreds of Chinese apps. However, VLC Media Player is developed by Paris-based firm VideoLAN. Neither the company nor the government has revealed details of the ban.

Switch Mobility and Chalo have joined hands for deploying 5,000 electric buses. In a deal worth ₹8,000 crore, making it the largest electric bus deal in India to date. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for an initial period of three years was signed. The buses with seating capacity of at least 30. It will have recliner seats and air-conditioning, among other features and will be deployed across metros and other cities. Switch will invest in the bus and will maintain it while Chalo will invest in consumer experience, charging infrastructure, drivers, IT and connectivity.

India’s first indigenous Hydrogen-fueled electric vessel is likely to be delivered by March-April next year, said Chairman and Managing Director of Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) Madhu S Nair. He added that the fuel cell will be produced by a Pune-based company relying on Indian technology. The estimated figure for the ship lift-based shipyard at Wellington Island in Kochi is Rs 970 crore. The facility is expected to be commissioned by December 2023 Kochi will be a ship repair hub after it is commissioned. The project will provide employment opportunities to at least 3,000 people in the shipyard.
