State-owned RITES Limited has signed a significant contract with Bangladesh Railways to supply 200 broad-gauge passenger carriages. The deal, valued at $111.26 million (approximately Rs 915 crore), is funded by the European Investment Bank and was awarded through a global competitive bidding process, according to a press statement from RITES Limited. The export arm of Indian Railways, RITES, will not only supply the carriages but also provide expertise in design, spare parts support, and training as part of the contract terms.
