Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) has started building its second manufacturing facility in India at the Industrial Model Township (IMT) in Kharkhoda, Haryana. This plant is a part of the company’s plan to expand production, support sustainability, and contribute to regional economic development.

Investment and Production Goals

SMIPL is investing around ₹1,200 crore in the new facility. The plant is expected to begin operations by 2027, with a target to produce 750,000 units annually in its first phase. The site spans 100 acres, with 25 acres each dedicated to manufacturing and green spaces.

Local Employment and Economic Impact

The Kharkhoda facility is expected to create approximately 2,000 jobs. It will also enhance Suzuki’s local supply chain and improve customer service across India. The company aims to support local development through increased employment and industrial activity.

Focus on Sustainability and Innovation

The new plant will follow lean manufacturing principles and adopt automation and energy-efficient systems. These steps align with Suzuki’s broader environmental sustainability goals.

Foundation Stone Ceremony

The foundation stone was laid in the presence of Kenichi Umeda, Managing Director of SMIPL, and other senior officials from Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan. Indian representatives, including Dr. Manoj Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Sonipat, and Kyoko Hokugo, Minister of Economics from the Japanese Embassy in India, also attended.

Existing Line-up in India

Suzuki Motorcycle India currently offers a wide range of two-wheelers for Indian customers. Popular models include the Access 125, Avenis, Burgman Street 125, Gixxer, and V-Strom SX, catering to various market segments.
