Air India Express has reached a significant milestone by expanding its fleet to 100 aircraft with the induction of a Boeing 737-8. The newly added aircraft took its maiden flight on the Bengaluru-Hindon route, marking another step in the airline’s rapid growth.

In an official statement on Monday, the airline announced that by the end of the month, it aims to operate more than 500 daily flights, covering an extensive network of 54 destinations across India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

Since its acquisition by the Tata Group in January 2022, Air India Express has almost doubled its fleet. At the time of the takeover, it had 26 Boeing 737 NGs and 28 A320 aircraft. With continued expansion, the fleet now stands at 100 planes, reflecting the airline’s commitment to growth and modernization.

The 100th aircraft, adorned with ‘Chittara’ tail art—a tribute to Karnataka’s traditional mural paintings—was officially inaugurated by the airline’s Managing Director, Aloke Singh, at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport.

Singh highlighted the airline’s achievements since privatization, stating, “In just over three years, we have successfully integrated low-cost carriers, scaled up operations with a modern and fuel-efficient fleet, and strengthened both our domestic and international presence. Our focus on tier 2 and tier 3 cities aligns with India’s economic expansion, making us a key player in the country’s aviation sector.”

Air India Express completed its merger with AIX Connect (formerly AirAsia India) last year, reinforcing its position as a leading low-cost carrier with a growing influence in key markets.
