Indian billionaire Gautam Adani has announced a ₹60 billion ($686 million) investment to establish two affordable health campuses in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the U.S.-based Mayo Clinic, aims to enhance healthcare accessibility.
Each campus will include hospitals, medical colleges, transitional care, and research facilities, with Mayo Clinic Global Consulting providing technical expertise.
This marks the first major project from Adani’s ₹600 billion pledge towards healthcare, education, and skill development, made two years ago.
Meanwhile, the Adani Group is also leading the redevelopment of Mumbai’s Dharavi slum into a modern urban hub. The ₹619 million project, however, faces opposition from residents over feasibility concerns.
Additionally, Adani and several top executives were accused by U.S. authorities in November of involvement in a $265 million bribery scheme related to Indian power contracts. The Adani Group has dismissed these allegations as baseless.
