The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) is urging pet owners in Abu Dhabi to register their cats and dogs via the TAMM portal’s animal ownership system, set to launch on February 3. This new system aims to establish a centralized database of pet owners and their microchipped pets, reflecting the city’s dedication to animal welfare and legal compliance.
The DMT emphasizes the need for collaboration in this initiative, with veterinary clinics playing a crucial role. Pet owners can visit their selected clinic to register their pets, while these clinics can also register animals or transfer ownership to ensure accuracy.
The program also promotes pet health by encouraging annual vaccinations, microchipping, and regular veterinary check-ups. Registration will be free for now, and pet owners will have one year to register without facing penalties. However, pet shops and establishments with cats and dogs are required to complete their registration within six months.
This move toward a centralized database marks an important step in promoting responsible pet ownership in Abu Dhabi.
