With 997 kilometers of metro lines under construction across 28 cities and 993 kilometers already operational in 23 cities, India is making significant strides in urban mobility.

Commitment to Urban Infrastructure
Speaking to the Parliamentary consultative committee attached to the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, Lal emphasized the government’s dedication to improving urban transport infrastructure to address the challenges of a growing population.

Key Developments Highlighted

  • Metro Rail Expansion: Major cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Patna, and Lucknow were discussed in detail, along with updates on the Metro Rail Policy 2017.
  • Driverless Technology: Bengaluru Metro’s Yellow Line is set to receive its first driverless train from Titagarh by late 2024 or early 2025.
