Nayanthara’s upcoming Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale has sparked controversy due to a three-second behind-the-scenes clip from the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Actor Dhanush, who produced the film, filed a ₹10 crore lawsuit, claiming copyright infringement.
Lawyer Issues Stern Warning
In response, Dhanush’s legal team issued a statement refuting Nayanthara’s claims. They emphasised that the BTS footage belongs to Dhanush as the producer, not the individual who filmed it. The lawyer stated, “Your client’s claims are baseless and lack proof.”
24-Hour Deadline
Dhanush’s legal team demanded that the content be removed from the documentary within 24 hours. Failure to comply will result in legal action against Nayanthara and Netflix India, including a ₹10 crore damage claim.
Nayanthara Defends Her Stance
In an open letter, Nayanthara accused Dhanush of complicating the process by refusing to grant a No Objection Certificate (NOC). She highlighted the legal and emotional toll of the ongoing dispute.
Premiere Amid Controversy
Despite the legal battle, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale is set to premiere on Netflix on November 18. The documentary will offer insights into Nayanthara’s personal and professional life, including her relationship with husband Vignesh Sivan.
