A roadside coconut vendor from Bengaluru is making waves online with a clever advertisement aimed at challenging the prices of quick commerce giants like Zepto, Blinkit, and BigBasket. The vendor posted a comparison of coconut prices between local street vendors and the big platforms, highlighting the price disparity.

The Price Comparison Sparks Debate

The advertisement, shared by X user Peak Bengaluru (@peakbengaluru) on November 7, 2024, compared the cost of coconuts on quick commerce platforms like Zepto, Blinkit, BigBasket, and local vendors. The post quickly garnered attention with around 8K views. While some netizens praised the vendor for his bold approach, others pointed out that even roadside coconut prices were quite high.

Mixed Reactions from Netizens

Several users chimed in with their thoughts on the price differences. One commenter suggested that coconut prices would decrease if India stopped exporting them, while another user from Delhi noted that roadside coconuts were priced higher than Blinkit’s offering. Another individual compared the price of coconuts at local shops, saying quick commerce has contributed to price hikes.

In contrast, a user appreciated BigBasket’s daily subscription service, mentioning that the convenience of doorstep delivery for just a few extra rupees was worth it. Meanwhile, a commenter from Gujarat shared that they could buy coconuts for as low as ₹30, and sometimes even ₹20 for a small one, drawing attention to regional price variations.
