First Indian Star of 1000 Crore Film Takes Illness Break! Who?

Rana Daggubati, known for his iconic role as Bhallaladeva in SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion,” made history as part of the first Indian film to cross the Rs 1000 crore mark worldwide. Alongside co-star Prabhas, Daggubati carved his name in Indian cinema, leading a film to unprecedented box office heights.

Despite stiff competition from industry heavyweights like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, Daggubati’s Baahubali success set him apart, earning him the distinction of being one of the first Indian actors to headline a Rs 1000 crore-grossing film. However, his journey took a poignant turn as health issues sidelined his career aspirations.

Daggubati’s battle with a kidney ailment brought him to the brink of mortality, compelling him to undergo a life-saving kidney transplant. The ordeal led him to step back from the spotlight, focusing on his health and recovery. Despite the setback, he continued to pursue his passion for acting, albeit in less demanding roles in films like “Kaadan,” “1945,” and “Bheemla Nayak.”

The actor’s determination to overcome adversity shone through as he gradually returned to the silver screen, albeit in supporting roles in films like “Housefull 4” and the NTR biopics. His latest endeavour sees him taking on a supporting role in Rajinikanth’s upcoming film “Vettaiyan,” slated for release in October.

Recently, at the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, Daggubati opened up about his health struggles, revealing the profound impact it had on his outlook on life. His journey towards recovery led him to find solace in nature, particularly during the filming of Prabhu Solomon’s “Kaadan” in the jungle, where he spent almost a year amidst elephants and tranquility.

Additionally, Daggubati embarked on a new venture alongside his uncle Venkatesh with “Rana Naidu,” the Indian adaptation of the American show “Ray Donovan.” The duo’s collaboration extends to the second season of “Rana Naidu,” signalling a promising chapter in Daggubati’s multifaceted career.
