In a move aimed at slashing travel time between Lakhwadeep and Mangaluru, the launch of the high-speed ferry ‘Parali’ has been heralded as a game-changer. These vessels have successfully trimmed down the sea travel duration between the two destinations by a staggering five hours!

Record-breaking Inaugural Journey

On May 3, 2024, the maiden voyage of the ‘Parali’ ferry witnessed 160 passengers whisked away from the Lakshadweep Islands to the Mangaluru old port in a mere seven hours. This remarkable feat stands in stark contrast to the previous journey duration of 13 hours, garnering praise from passengers and stakeholders alike.

LITDA’s Vision for Seamless Tourism

The Lakshadweep Islands Tourism Development Authority (LITDA), operating under the Central Tourism Ministry, is gearing up to kickstart the Mangalore-Lakshadweep tourist liner service post a series of successful trial runs. However, concerns loom over the impending monsoon season’s rough sea conditions.

Infrastructure Upgrades for Enhanced Safety

In anticipation of challenges posed by rough seas, the LITDA has undertaken significant upgrades at the Kadmatt port, the nearest arrival point from the mainland. This proactive approach follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Lakshadweep, underscoring the island administration’s commitment to bolstering connectivity between Kochi and Mangaluru.

Paving the Way for Diverse Tourism

Renowned for its pristine beaches and untouched beauty, Lakshadweep beckons travelers with its 36 islands sprawling across 32 sq km, enveloped by a 4200 sq km lagoon teeming with marine life. From eco-tourism in the Western Ghats to educational, health, and recreational tourism on the mainland, the archipelago promises an array of experiences.

Immersive Experiences Await

With its vibrant coral reefs and crystal-clear waters, Lakshadweep offers unparalleled opportunities for snorkeling, diving, and various water sports. Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of culture and history, where Indian, Arab, and indigenous influences converge, shaping the islands’ architecture, cuisine, and traditions.

From wandering through quaint fishing villages to basking on sun-drenched beaches and savoring delectable seafood delicacies, Lakshadweep offers a serene sanctuary, a stark departure from the frenetic pace of urban life.

As the ‘Parali’ ferry ushers in a new era of connectivity and accessibility, Lakshadweep stands poised to emerge as a premier destination for discerning travellers seeking solace and adventure amidst nature’s bounty.
