In a heart-rending incident, a nine-year-old leopard named Deva fell victim to hunting, enduring severe wounds and infection from a metal wire snare. Trapped for two days, Deva’s plight caught the attention of the forest department, prompting a swift response from a team of vets and experts from Vantara. With dedicated care, Deva has now recovered, joining over 2,000 animals rehabilitated through the Vantara ecosystem, a visionary initiative spearheaded by Anant Ambani.

A Passion Turned Mission

For Anant Ambani, Vantara embodies a lifelong passion for wildlife conservation, evolving into a mission to protect India’s endangered species and their habitats. Nestled within Reliance’s Jamnagar Refinery Complex in Gujarat, Vantara encompasses a sprawling 3,000-acre Elephant Centre and a Green Zoological Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre, providing sanctuary to over 2,000 animals across 43 species.

A Sanctuary of Hope

At the heart of Vantara lies its Elephant Centre, where over 200 elephants find solace after being rescued from various distressing circumstances. Injuries sustained in circuses and other unfortunate situations find healing within this sanctuary, complemented by state-of-the-art shelters and a cutting-edge 25,000 sq ft elephant hospital, catering to their diverse medical needs.

Rescue and Rehabilitation Efforts

Beyond elephants, Vantara’s Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre extends its care to an array of species, including tigers, pygmy hippos, crocodiles, and leopards. With a hospital equipped with advanced technology and a dedicated team of experts, the centre provides a lifeline for animals injured in accidents or conflicts with humans.

Towards a Sustainable Future

Looking ahead, Vantara aims to collaborate with governmental bodies to enhance zoos across India, bolstering training, capacity building, and animal care infrastructure. Anant Ambani envisions Vantara as a global beacon of hope for biodiversity conservation, showcasing the transformative power of forward-thinking initiatives in safeguarding our planet’s rich wildlife heritage.
