The Adani Group has unveiled plans to invest ₹1.5 lakh crore in Odisha’s energy sector through a mix of nuclear power plants, ultra-supercritical thermal power projects and pumped storage projects (PSPs). The proposal was presented to the Odisha government and will now undergo detailed discussions on feasibility, regulatory approvals and implementation timelines.

The proposed investment includes two 3,000 MW nuclear power plants, a 2,400 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant, and multiple pumped storage projects to strengthen the state’s long-term energy security. Adani is already developing a 1.8 GW pumped storage project in Nayagarh district.
According to the proposal, the projects are expected to generate more than 22,000 direct and indirect jobs while significantly expanding Odisha’s power generation capacity. The investments are also aimed at supporting India’s Net Zero 2070 goals by combining conventional and low-emission energy infrastructure.
