The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has achieved another significant milestone with its Chandrayaan 3 mission. Here are the key developments and details of the mission.
Successful Soft Landing
Chandrayaan 3 successfully performed a soft landing on the south pole of the moon at 6:04 pm. The lander chose a flat region on the lunar surface for the landing.
Landing Site Photo
After landing, Chandrayaan 3 sent a photo of the landing site captured by the landing imager camera back to Earth. This image provided crucial information about the mission’s success.
Communication Link
A communication link was established between the Chandrayaan 3 lander and MOX-ISTRAC in Bengaluru, ensuring that data could be transmitted and received.
Pragyan Rover’s Deployment
The Pragyan rover, which was attached to the belly of the Vikram lander, began the process of rolling out onto the lunar surface. This rover deployment is a significant step in the mission.
Pragyan’s Experiments
The Pragyan rover will now conduct a series of experiments on the lunar surface over the next 14 days. It carries two payloads: one for analyzing the chemical composition of the lunar surface and another for determining the elemental composition of lunar soil and rocks around the landing site.
Data Transmission
The data collected by the Pragyan rover during its experiments will be sent back to the lander, which will then transmit the data to Earth.
“Made in India, Made for the Moon”
ISRO shared this achievement on Twitter, emphasizing the rover’s origin and purpose. The tweet celebrated the rover’s successful deployment and its contribution to lunar exploration.
