With an import substitution value of Rs.814 crore, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has declared that 164 Positive Indigenisation List (PIL) items have met the deadline.
The notification was issued by the Department of Defence’s Department of Production (DDP), which is part of the MoD. The MoD has a comprehensive list of items that can be made in the United States. As per the MOD, the indigenisation of these things has been accomplished by Guard Public Area Endeavours (DPSUs) either through Industry accomplices, including MSMEs, or in-house.
In addition, the DDP has notified four PILs containing 4,666 items, including spares, components, and line replacement units (LRUs) for DPSUs. It had previously announced the successful indigenization of 2,572 items, resulting in a value of Rs.1, 756 crore in import substitution.
With the announcement of these 164 additional items, the total number of indigenized items from DDP’s PILs until December 2022 is 2,736, with a value of Rs.2, 570 crore equivalent to import substitution. “These indigenized things will presently be obtained from the Indian Business just, the MoD said in a proclamation.
