Zomato partners with Zypp Electric to electrify last-mile deliveries in India.

On Tuesday, Zypp Electric said that by 2024, it would provide 1 lakh electric scooters to the online meal delivery service Zomato. The partnership, according to the business, is a part of Zomato’s bigger aim to become all electrified by 2030.

“This partnership will help us considerably cut carbon emissions while offering our clients additional environmentally friendly last-mile delivery options. According to Mohit Sardana, COO of Zomato’s food delivery, “We look forward to working together to achieve more efficient and environmentally responsible deliveries. Over 13,000 electric vehicles have already been put on the road by Zypp Electric, which has raised $37.5 million to date.

All 2-wheelers used for food delivery run mostly on gasoline, although there are plans to switch to electric vehicles in order to reduce costs. Our goal is to create a more effective, sustainable, and customer-focused delivery experience by utilizing our EV fleet management system and cutting-edge partner solutions, according to Tushar Mehta, COO and Co-Founder of Zypp Electric.

In its series B fundraising in February, the EV-as-a-service platform raised $25 million under the leadership of Gogoro, a major technical player in the battery swapping ecosystem. By 2025, Zypp hopes to expand to 30 Indian cities and grow its fleet from 10,000 to 200,000 electric vehicles thanks to the new funding.

Currently, Zypp offers EV services to a number of other companies, including Zepto, Blinkit, BigBasket, Amazon, Flipkart, and Zomato and many more with EV solutions as well as delivery partners.
