Indian Railways has achieved a record in terms of scrap sales, with revenue on this count in the first half of fiscal year 2022–23 standing at Rs 2,582 crore as of September 2022) as opposed to Rs 2,003 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal.
The amount made from scrap sales during this time period is 28.91% larger than it was during the previous fiscal year.The goal revenue from the sale of scrap has been set at Rs 4,400 crore for the years 2022–2023, according to the Railways.
In comparison to 3,60,732 metric tonnes in 2021–2022, 3,93,421 metric tonnes of iron scrap have been sold off so far in 2022–2023.
Scrap is sold by the Railways via online auction.
