Cochin Shipyard delivered ‘Vikrant’ to the Indian Navy. Vikrant is an indigenously built aircraft carrier. It was designed by the Indian Navy. Manufacturing happened at Cochin Shipyard Limited. This has raised India’s status globally. The aircraft is a perfect example of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative. It was built at an overall cost of about Rs 20,000 crore. Its keel was laid in February 2009. The project progressed in three phases. Vikrant will likely be commissioned on August 15.
