ACKO insurance turns unicorn

Digital insurer ACKO has joined the unicorn club raising $255 million in a Series D round.

 

The round led by General Atlantic and Multiples Private Equity has valued the fintech startup at $1.1 billion.

 

The transaction is subject to approval by the  insurance regulator, IRDAI.

 

The total funds raised by ACKO now stand at $450 million.

 

It had earlier raised capital from Amazon, Accel, and Flipkart’s co-founder Binny Bansal, among others.

 

ACKO sells bite-sized insurance products in partnership with Amazon, Ola, redBus etc.

 

ACKO also covers nearly 1 mn gig workers through partnerships with Zomato, Swiggy and others.
